World demographics and the scope of the increasing worldwide H-I-P population.

we-hear-you-logoWe at lessersound represent the experiences and needs of about 900,000,000-1,000,000,000 H-I-P people . Yes, billion. That’s 12-15% of the world’s population of 7.1 billion who are H-I-P. Each of us has a family that is impacted. That number grows yearly. H-I-P have two ears. Each ear is affected differently by loss and problems. Each ear is unique. Do the math. Some 1.8 -2 .0 billion ears are affected. Yes, billions of ears and increasing each year. Then there are H-A-R-P  Hearing At Risk People. Hundreds of millions, if not billions more potentially affected by unsafe sound. We’ll anticipate the needs of the families of H-I-P and H-A-R-P as well. Huge demographics. Huge numbers of people to be benefited through our vision on two fronts, augmentation and prevention and the demographic grows each year.

U. S. demographics for H-I-P

We are H-I-P!The USA has some 36,000,000 H-I-P, 72,000,000 ears, and 36 million H-I-P families. Other respected publications including HLAA Magazine estimate the number of H-I-P as 48,000,000 in the USA alone. Overall, some 12-15% of the world population is H-I-P. Documented Research reflects the following: As our USA population matures and lives longer, H-I-P (entering 65 years of age) will increase by some 3,600,000 per year together with some 3, 600,000 new affected families. Our seniors will be 40%-50% H-I-P as time passes and people live longer. In 10 years there will be some 70,000,000 H-I-P with 140,000,000 ears in the USA and a like number of families.

Recent statistics also reflect that each year, 10,000 people per day will turn 65. Of that number 40% will become H-I-P. Moreover, the life span of a person turning 50 today is expected to increase and more people will live to be 100. Humans (in the USA at least) will have a longer life to live as H-I-P.

Only 20% of all H-I-P seek and receive help. That means that 80% don’t seek help, either because: (a) they can’t afford it-price or (b) are ashamed or embarrassed- pride prevents help; or (c) kept ignorant or uninformed by the existing way hearing health information is distributed and hearing devices are sold. The Shame of Silence is an international outrage, must be addressed and solutions developed.

Eighty percent means 72,000,000+ ears which need help in the USA and that need H-I-P products and real world solutions that they and their families can afford, and should not be ashamed of and must understand. Each H-I-P has family, friends, business colleagues affected by H-I-P. Clearly, as a H-I-P, being hearing impaired negatively impacts a large number of people besides themselves. lessersound™ will address those real concerns as part of our expanding vision, outreach, advocacy, and products in consideration for development for H-I-P and H-A-R-P.
